What happened in this case this week? I recommend watching The Pascal Show if you haven’t already. There are bits of new information in that show from Kylen’s father, as well as the PI, Jason Jensen(JJ). The new information includes that a couple guns have been ballistically tested by JJ and found not to be a match to the murder weapon. I don’t know how this is detected, but I think it has something to do with the markings on the casings. As we know, four casings were left at the crime scene. This was mentioned in some warrants from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

We learned last week, a new story has emerged of the women’s last hours alive.

Previously, we’ve understood that the women were last seen at Woody’s Tavern in Moab, Utah, around 9:30 pm (per GCSO). Per postings and discussions by the women’s family members, we learned that after Woody’s, the women went to a nearby friend’s house, after which they returned to their camp (to tend to their pet rabbit, Ruth), arriving at their camp off La Sal Loop Road and FR 4651 around 1:00 am on August 14, 2021.

We didn’t know prior to last week, what time they were killed, but the GCSO stated on Jan. 19 (in a press release), they’d narrowed the killings to August 14. This last week, we learned from family members that there is an audio recording of gunshots on or around 11:30 am on Saturday August 14, 2021. So, it is now circulating widely on social media, the two women were killed at 11:30 am, August 14, 2021, during daylight hours.

The other information that emerged last week came from the father, who on FB (Facebook), stated that two “witnesses” had independently informed him they saw both women on Saturday morning on their Harley at a Chevron gas station. This led the father to conclude that the women were the victims of a sex crime, since they were found undressed from the waist down (information we knew early in the investigation per GCSO). Previously, it had been hypothesized by the PI that the women were not sexually assaulted, but had been wearing what they slept in. In contrast, the GCSO wrote, in their Jan. 19 press release, that the per the crime scene evidence, there was no evidence of "forcible sexual assault of either victim."

Additionally, new information emerged from the father last week, who in adding to the Chevron sighting, stated the women confided in the friend they saw at the gas station, that the “creeper” had told them they had to move camp because it was “his spot.” The two women shared with this friend, on Saturday morning, that they were heading back to their camping spot off La Sal Loop Road to move camp. That’s the last they were seen.

Previous to last week, we had come to understand, from family members and the women’s friends, that the women informed the friend they visited with late on Friday, August 13, 2021, that the two women planned to head back to camp for the night, and move their camp on August 14, because the “creeper,” had intimidated them by howling, and by walking through their camp in the dead of night, at a time he apparently thought they were sleeping.

We have known for a while, per statements of GCSO as well as the woman who found one of the bodies and snapped a picture of the crime scene from afar, that the women’s silver Kia was found at the murder scene. The Harley was parked elsewhere, in town.

In light of this new information, if it is one day confirmed by law enforcement, what we have now before us is a scenario where, after returning home around 1:00 am in the early morning of August 14, the women arose early enough to drive back into Moab and trade out their Kia for the Harley, take a ride on the Harley, and then replace the Harley at an in-town location while retrieving their Kia and heading back to their camp. They would have to had arisen early because by 11:30 am, per this new information, they were murdered.

It would be great to have confirmation of this new information from GCSO. I saw a headline from ABC that the GCSO confirmed the time of death as 11:30. The news report states:

“'We do have audio recordings from the area with some gunshots on August 14th,' said Lt. Kim Neal. 'I am not going to say the specific time but let’s say it was in the a.m. We can’t specifically say if those gunshots are related to our homicide.' Lt. Neal said he 'would not discuss' whether investigators heard any screams on the recordings they obtained" (The Justice Files).

At this time, I’ve heard no confirmation from law enforcement regarding the gas station sighting on Saturday morning.

Presently, I personally am not invested in any particular story about their last hours, because law enforcement hasn’t confirmed it or shared anything similar to the new information. They have only stated that the women were last seen at Woody’s Tavern. And, even if the women did arise early, drive back into town to retrieve their Harley, it doesn’t change what ultimately occurred.

I hope it's true, that the two women had a few more hours Saturday morning, to enjoy the beauty of the Moab area, each other’s company, and the adrenaline-producing rumbling purr of their Harley.

The father has a further theory about what happened to the two women when they returned to camp the morning of August 14 – tying into to his recent hypothesis about the sex crime aspect of the case. Of course, he could be 100% correct. I have no way of confirming this new story, so I’ll leave everything here for now.
