The couple were married in April 2021, although they'd been together about two years (Lipscomb).
Crystal
Based on her obituary, it is believed Crystal (age 38) had been married before and had three children who survived her. She had four brothers, three who predeceased her, and one who survived her. She was born in Hot Springs Arkansas. Interestingly, her obituary does not mention Kylen, nor were the women buried together. Crystal's father had passed away at the time of her death, but her mother survived her, according to the obituary. Of her personality, the obituary states, "Crystal was outgoing, and always brought joy and laughter to others. She enjoyed the great outdoors, spending time on the lake, fishing, hiking and camping."
I haven't read any reports of involvement of Crystal's family with the murder investigation. On the other hand, Kylen's father and Aunt have been quoted in various news sources and active in the investigation. At times, someone on twitter will update the twitter community about happenings with the investigation per facebook.
Numerous news reports states that the two women were well known and loved in the small town of Moab. It was reported that they lived in the old 1987 van, which wasn't running, during the winter. The van stayed permanently parked at McDonald's.
Kylen
Kylen's (age 24) obituary states that she lived in Vail, Colorado, Wolf Point and Billings, Montana, and Moab, Utah. She was buried next to her brother at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park in Billings Montana. The obituary page also contains, at the time of this writing, a full video of the service, as well as a tribute video showing pictures of Kylen throughout her life since the time she was a baby.
Kylen worked at the Moonflower Community Co-op in Moab, Utah, and had worked there for several years, according to various reports. Cindy Sue Hunter said of Kylen, "[she's] one of the sweetest, most beautiful people I ever met" (Bink, "Moab").
On twitter, it was stated that Kylen had been in an abusive relationship and had had a still-born baby before she came to Utah.
From Kylen's FB: She lists moving to Moab (Stadt) 2016, graduating from Billings Senior High School in 2014, started a new job at Welding 2011, started school at Billings Senior High School 2010; 2010 is when she also "first met someone."
Pat Reavy of KSL.com reports that after Kylen's death, numerous friends and family members wrote fond memories of Kylen, describing what a sweet soul she was. One wrote "Kylen made every moment I spent with her positive, fun and welcoming." Another friend wrote that Kylen would always comment about the flowers in front of the business, and asked to pick a few for her wife: "Both were absolutely amazing souls." Reavy further notes, another family member commented that Kylen's heart was "full of love and life and God."
